is an open innovation project with the objective to promote development and use of services for information exchange, access, ticketing and payment through new applications of mobile and near field communication (NFC) technologies.
The project will conduct studies of user, business, security and legal issues - and develop solutions to elaborate the necessary operating environment for the new services. It will also contribute to standardisation and industry organisations.
This objective will be achieved through:
-
Establishment of a complete NFC ecosystem including network infrastructure, trusted service manager (TSM) functionality, NFC services and handsets
- Exposure of a critical mass of users to various services within a limited geographical area - a NFC city
- Development of a toolbox for implementation of NFC services
- Running field trials where services must work as standalone applications and in coexistence
- Stimulation of service providers to test out their applications and business models
